Whynott Welcomes Announcement of NSLC Adopt-A-Stream Program
March 30, 2010

(Upper Sackville, NS) – NDP MLA Mat Whynott welcomes today’s announcement of a partnership between the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) and the Nova Scotia Salmon Association (NSSA) to help protect and restore local watersheds and improve Nova Scotia's water quality. The two have joined forces to create the NSLC Adopt-A-Stream program for which the NSLC has committed $500,000 over the next five years. This funding will increase the resources of the NSSA by 30% a year over that period and will be used to support the work of more than 40 volunteer community river associations province wide.

“This program will assist the Sackville Rivers Association in their efforts to promote and preserve natural resources at the local level,” says Whynott. “It’s an excellent idea and by working together these organizations will improve communities and the environment across Nova Scotia."

Between March 29 and May 2 every NSLC costumer who purchases a featured ECO SALE product will contribute between $0.25 and $1.00 to Adopt-A-Stream.
