Skabar Appreciates the Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Investment Grant in Cumberland North
April 1, 2010
(Amherst, N.S.) – NDP MLA Brian Skabar says he appreciates the grants that have been awarded by the Department of Justice to organizations in his constituency.
Amherst Regional High School’s SADD program received $1,250 which will allow a delegate to attend a national conference in Regina. Silent Witness Nova Scotia’s Cumberland Chapter was awarded $1,500 toward their domestic violence public awareness campaign. Both grants come in the form of Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Investments.
“These are very important projects in our area,” says Skabar. “A student attending the CYAID conference will help unite Amherst programs with others across the country.
The more public awareness about the Silent Witness Program, the better.” Today Justice Minister Landry announced that 35 organizations across the province would receive one-time grants totaling $80,000 for projects aimed at young people.
