September 18, 2009
Lunenburg, N.S - MLA Pam Birdsall is looking forward to a clearer view of the Lunenburg waterfront thanks to new provincial funding the municipality has received to reduce greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions.
The town of Lunenburg was given a $40,834 grant from the ecoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change to reduce energy consumption in seven of its buildings. Improvements will include new energy efficient lighting, added eco-friendly insulation and upgrades to heating systems.
“I’m pleased to see Minister Belliveau’s dedication to improving our environment,” said Birdsall. “This grant will allow the municipality to make important changes, helping them to become more environmentally responsible.”
The grant for the Town of Lunenburg was one of several new clean air projects announced by Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau.
