MacKinnon Pleased Twinning of Highway 104 will continue
February 26, 2010

(Pictou, NS)  MLA Clarrie MacKinnon is pleased the twinning of Highway 104 towards Sutherlands River will continue in 2010 thanks to a $6.5 million paving contract awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

“I want to thank Minister Estabrooks for making this stretch of Highway 104 one of his priorities,” says MacKinnon. “This announcement is good news for our community. It will definitely increase driver safety in the region. I’m also glad the the lighting at Exit 26 was addressed, which has been a source of concern for many constituents.”

S.W. Weeks Contracting Inc. will construct two new eastbound lanes of Highway 104 from the end of the existing twined lanes for 7.4 kilometres to east of the Pine Tree Road Overpass. The contract also includes an upgrading of highway lighting at Exit 26.
