Gosse Very Happy About New Skilled Trades Building at Marconi Campus of NSCC
March 22, 2010
(Sydney, NS) -- NDP MLA Gordie Gosse welcomes the news of a new state-of-the-art skilled trades building for the Sydney Marconi Campus of the NSCC. Earlier today Premier Dexter announced the construction of the two-storey building that will feature shop space, classrooms, offices and a green design meeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
“I’m very happy to see this project moving forward,” said Gosse. “This facility will provide students with the necessary skills employers are looking for in the trades and technology sectors. It will help people find jobs and help our province’s economy grow.”
Construction of the 27,000 square-foot $6 million building will begin this spring and take one year to complete. The province will contribute $4.5 million to the project with NSCC adding $1 million. Government is currently identifying potential sources for the remaining $500,000.
