Raymond Applauds Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Investment Grants
April 1, 2010

(Spryfield, N.S.) – NDP MLA Michele Raymond is applauding the announcement of three Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Investment Grants from the Department of Justice awarded to Spryfield organizations.

The Boys and Girls Club of Spryfield received two grants totaling $4,000 for its Youth Café Empowerment Project and Tween Conversations program. The Spryfield Lions Club received $2,000 for its Parents and Tots – Let’s Get Up and Go program.

“I want to thank Minister Landry for investing in these valuable programs that help youth make healthy lifestyle choices and avoid common pitfalls,” says Raymond. “Youth empowered with positive attitudes and skills are far less likely to become involved in crime.”

Today Justice Minister Landry announced that 35 organizations across the province would receive one-time grants totaling $80,000 for projects aimed at young people.
