Epstein Welcomes Provincial Clean Air Funding for Local Company
July 15, 2010

(Halifax, NS) – NDP MLA Howard Epstein welcomes today’s news that Carbon Sense Solutions of Halifax has received over $467,188 from the ecoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change to help reduce greenhouse gases and air pollutants.

“Our NDP government has put in place the most ambitious renewable energy strategy in all of North America and in the process Nova Scotia has become a key player in the global fight against climate change,” said Epstein. “With this investment we are helping municipalities and businesses reduce their carbon footprints and making communities healthier places for families.”

Carbon Sense Solutions will use this funding to implement a new process that will use carbon dioxide instead of steam to cure concrete. This will both save energy and trap CO2 in the product.

Earlier today at the Lafarge cement plant in Brookfield, Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau announced that 10 projects across Nova Scotia had received over $2.4 million from the ecoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change.
